Background:Weasel was booted up on 9 Nov 2001; pictures of Weasel's rapid assembly are available.PoP: a Pile-of-Pentiums, a Pile-of-PCs, a Pile-of-Processors, or even a Beowulf-class supercomputer. Weasel is our 2nd generation beowulf cluster consisting of dual 1GHz Pentium III PCs running Linux with 100Mbps switched networking between them. "PoP" - Weasel's predecessor - has now retired. This time around we opted for smaller rackmount "pizza boxes" to save on space and for ease of access to individual machines for service. Our aim is to provide a cost-effective computational resource for the Physics Department at Syracuse University. For local access only:
